When L’Oréal’s latest evening moisturiser—L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Retinol + Niacinamide Pressed Night Cream—dropped on my desk, I was intrigued by its promise to correct and brighten my skin within 14 days. So of course, we had to put it to the test. The Price The Review Although L’Oréal Paris promises amazing results in 14 days, I noticed an instant improvement to my skin the night after using it. One of the two hero ingredients is retinol, an extremely powerful and hard-working ingredient. Retinol, a form of vitamin A, actually gets into the epidermis and encourages cells to turn over quickly, unveiling the healthy new cells underneath. This is why, the day after using, I had already noticed that my skin looked more luminous, since it has an exfoliating-like effect. That wasn’t all—the morning after, I noticed my skin felt soft and intensely hydrated, which was a big tick for me. It’s one thing for my skin to look good but I want to feel like my night cream is keeping my complexion hydrated and healthy too. If you’re new to retinol, it’s important to ease into using it, so your skin can adjust to that faster cell turnover. L’Oréal Paris recommends starting with the Revitalift Retinol + Niacinamide Pressed Cream two nights per week. Once your skin tolerates that a small amount of redness, tingling or dryness is normal but any more than that and roll it back you can start to apply it every other night. After a month of use, you should be able to use it nightly. Be sure to wear SPF regularly throughout the day, to protect that baby-soft skin!. After consistently trialling this cream, I started to notice the second hero ingredient—known as niacinamide—was doing its job too. Niacinamide is also a naturally occurring vitamin and its main role is to fight environmental aggressors to strengthen the skin barrier, translating to smoother and clearer skin. Sounds good, right? Before starting with L’Oréal Paris Revitalift Retinol + Niacinamide Pressed Night Cream, I was experiencing a lacklustre period. I didn’t have new breakouts, but I felt like my skin was going through a period of dullness, where I needed a bit of a skincare routine shakeup. This night cream has done exactly that—the niacinamide has helped to improve my skin texture, soften out the pores on my nose and, along with the retinol, it’s given me a significantly brighter complexion. The other thing I love about this cream is the packaging. It’s seriously stunning—a deep blue shiny jar that looks great on my top shelf. It uses an innovative press pump which dispenses the exact amount of product needed into your fingertips. While the airless pump is fun to use, there’s also an added benefit to it—it’s extremely hygienic, since you’re not putting your fingers in a jar and potentially transferring bacteria too.
